The York County Emergency Management Agency will be hosting an open house for public officials, local emergency directors, first responders, public works employees, water & sewer district representatives, and CART volunteers. York County EMA will be displaying equipment and capabilities as well as demonstrating EMA activities.

York County ARES Participates At Harborfest

York County ARES participated at and operated from Harborfest in Wells, Maine on Saturday, July 29. Jason W1WDW brought the ARES MCV down to deploy and operate HF on emergency power.  Several contacts were made including a PSK31 contact to Hungary. York County Emergency Management also deployed their Command One truck for demonstration. Dave AA1LO, Jim KC1ETT, Barry KB1VX and Jason W1WDW participated in the demonstration.

SKYWARN Activation: July 8, 2017

York County ARES is activated at the request of the NWS for Skywarn. Severe weather is expected in our area today and tonight. Please monitor DMR Region North and KQ1L system for possible nets and report any damage or severe weather to the NWS.

SKYWARN – July 1, 2017 Activation

York County ARES has been activated for Skywarn at the request of the National Weather Service in Gray, ME. Spotter activation is requested in advance of severe thunderstorms forecast for our region later today and tonight. Spotters are requested to monitor Skywarn nets on the KQ1L system and DMR Region North. Reports of damage or severe weather can also be made to NWSGray via telephone, email, social media, NWSChat or radio.

Skywarn Activation – June 27, 2017

The NWS has requested Skywarn Activation today for the possibility of severe storms in our area. Please monitor conditions and make reports per standard procedures.

SKYWARN UPDATE – Severe Thunderstorm Watch – June 19, 2017

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for our area effective until 8pm local time. Strong to severe thunderstorms are already building throughout the region and all SKYWARN spotters should be on alert for rapidly changing weather.

 

Please make severe weather reports to the National Weather Service via your standard reporting methods.

York County ARES has been activated for Skywarn at the request of the National Weather Service in Gray. The possibility exists for strong to severe thunderstorms in our region today and into tonight. Spotters should be on the lookout for threatening weather and make reports to the NWS via phone, email, social media, radio or NWSChat when it is safe to do so.

No net is expected at this time.
